Sainte-Maxime
Picnic, sunbathe, dive and explore! A magical place where young and old can discover plants, seaweed, shellfish and crustaceans...
A haven of tranquility, Pointe des Sardinaux is a natural and unspoiled peninsula nicknamed "Little Corsica." A peaceful retreat where relaxation and fun come together, take advantage of your free time to visit!A true haven of peace, in winter as in summer, this place is a human-scale representation of the coastal world.
It is accessed via the coastal road lined with umbrella pines towards Saint-Raphaël, located just before Nartelle beach. It is difficult to see from the road, as the area is restricted to pedestrians and parking, which is tricky, is only available along the roadside.
It offers families the opportunity to picnic on the grass in the shade of the pines and observe shells and crustaceans among the rocks with children, sunbathe on a small sandy beach at the tip of the peninsula, or go scuba diving (depths from 0 to 40 meters).
This area, belonging to the Var department but managed by the municipality, is part of the coastal path and features two points of interest:
* a World War II bunker (the coast was the site of the D-Day landings on August 15, 1944)
* a fishpond dating from Roman times
Two areas of the municipality's coastline are open to dogs year-round:
the town center dog beach: this is a section of the town center beach located near the Préconil bridge;
the inland area of Pointe des Sardinaux (except in July and August): this natural site (Sensitive Natural Area) is a popular meeting place for many dogs.
Dogs are prohibited year-round on the town center beaches (except for the aforementioned area), Oursins, Nartelle, Garonnette, and the southern tip of Pointe des Sardinaux.
Dogs must be kept on a leash and their waste must be picked up. Guide dogs and assistance dogs are allowed on all beaches.
