Les Bravades came into being following the appointment of a captain to defend the village from Saracens attempting to invade the Provencal coast.
From then on, a town captain was appointed every year, and a Bravade was organized to celebrate the town's defense and honor Saint-Maur, Cogolin's patron saint. During this traditional festival, Cogolin vibrates to the rhythm of tromblonades, processions, masses...
