The village festival (Grimaud)

3 days of music, games and flavors!
Provence is a land of tradition, and Grimaud is no exception!
On August 14, 15 and 16, the village is in a festive mood... La Provence est une terre de traditions et Grimaud n’échappe pas à la règle ! Chaque année, à la mi-août, Grimaud est d’humeur festive !

L’origine de cette fête se perd dans les siècles passés. Au départ, religieuse puisque basée sur les célébrations du 15 août consacrées à la Vierge, c’est aussi la fête du village, marquée, au moyen-âge, par une grande foire agricole dans le parc de la Chapelle Notre Dame de la Queste. Éleveurs et marchands venaient de tout le Golfe pour y vendre et acheter de nombreuses marchandises et du bétail.

C’était aussi l’occasion de réjouissances, animées par la musique et les danses, qui sont restées ancrées dans le cœur des habitants. C’est pourquoi, aujourd’hui, de la terre à la mer, on perpétue cette fête du village en célébrant la tradition, qu’elle soit religieuse avec les messes et procession, festive avec bal, spectacle et feu d’artifice, ou encore culinaire avec l'instant gourmand à la Queste.

PROGRAMME

Wednesday 14th August
From 6.00 pm to 12.00 am: The largest night craft market in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez with 60 stallholders, in the Place Neuve, Place Vieille and Place de l'Église in the village of Grimaud.
From 6.00 pm to midnight: Giant wooden games on the Place Vieille, for fun with family and friends!
6.30pm, 8.00pm and 9.40pm: Panda's Cover parade
Does the name panda conjure up images of a cute teddy bear or a Chantal Goya song? Forget your preconceived ideas, the Panda's Cover Gang is a group of 9 musicians with a penchant for festive, classy covers.
8.30pm, 9.20pm and 10.10pm: Magical light fountain shows! (Place Neuve)
10.30pm: Concert by Alfredo Buendia y los Picaflores!
A live band playing festive music under the bandstand in Grimaud, where the audience can dance their thongs off! Brass, Cuban percussion and song, all led by El Comandante who livens up the evening with his incantations. You'll love it! (Bandstand - Place Neuve)

Thursday 15th August
9.30 am: Petanque competition for children

From 10.00am: Commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Provence Landings:
Programme:
- 10.00am: Ceremony at Port Grimaud, Landing stele
- 11.15am: Laying of wreaths at the Rond-Point de la Libération
- 11.45am: Gathering in front of the Town Hall
- 12.00: Ceremony at the War Memorial
From 8pm: Gourmet corner in the village (fee payable)
Foodtrucks and delicacies await you on the Place de l'Église as you wait for the Satin Doll Sisters concert! Place de l'Église
9.30pm: Concert by the Satin Doll Sisters to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Provence Landings, with a breathtaking view of the fireworks over the Gulf of Saint-Tropez!
It's a plunge back into the era of liberation, when good humour, music, dance and joie de vivre resonated in the hearts and on the radio, with a repertoire ranging from swing to boogie inspired by the emblematic singers of the time.
It was a time of dances, of carefree rhythms set to American music that was a beacon of hope and renewal.
A music full of joy, delivered with an infectious energy and an extraordinary personality, that makes you want to dance and let yourself be carried away by time.

Friday 16th August
Meet in the grounds of the Notre-Dame de la Queste chapel
Refreshment bar provided all day by the Boule Grimaudoise (fee payable)
10.00 am: Petanque competition
Registration on site
10.30am: Mass and procession in the park
12:30 pm: Mechoui & ratatouille provençale, cheese, dessert and wine.
25€ - Reservations essential on the Grimaud Tourist Office website, under "Tickets".
From 3pm: Children's games in the park organised by Grimaud Animations
