From archives to bubbles: what if history could also be told in comics?

Are comics simply a form of entertainment, or a genuine tool for writing and transmitting history?
Between historical rigor and creative freedom, discover how comic book historians-scriptwriters are bringing the past to life, using Saint-Tropez and the Var department as examples. This conference, proposed by Gilbert Buti with the participation of Laurent Pavlidis, invites you to explore history behind the scenes, in bubbles and images, and to share the results of ongoing research.

A few words about Gilbert Buti, the speaker: Professor emeritus of modern history at Aix-Marseille University. Member of the TELEMMe laboratory at the Maison Méditerranéenne des Sciences de l'Homme. Specialist in maritime economies, port structures and coastal societies in the Mediterranean world (17th-early 19th c.) Author of numerous publications (books and articles). Delegate for the Mediterranean of the Société française d'histoire maritime and honorary president of the Académie du Var.
