Landscape architect Gilles Clément has designed Le Jardin des Méditerranées, a veritable invitation to travel through the world's Mediterranean landscapes, including those of California, Chile, South Africa, Australia, the Mediterranean Basin and the Canary Islands. You'll also discover landscapes with more arid or subtropical climates, such as those of Mexico, Asia, New Zealand and subtropical America.

"To discover this garden is to feel some of the emotions experienced by a botanical explorer surveying the planet!"
The Domaine du Rayol offers daily discovery tours, themed tours, activities for families, training courses for individuals and professionals, temporary exhibitions and meetings with artists in residence, an event at each change of season, a major plant festival, an underwater trail, as well as musical evenings (classical and Mediterranean music) in summer.

Among the permanent exhibitions, "De la villégiature au Jardin des Méditerranées de Gilles Clément," to be discovered in the Villa Rayolet, and an exhibition on the marine environment at the Maison de la Plage.

On site, you'll find:
- "Le Café des Jardiniers," a restaurant-tea room located in the heart of the Jardin des Méditerranées, offering Mediterranean dishes revisited and also making you travel with dishes with accents from here and elsewhere.
- La Librairie des Jardiniers", one of France's largest bookshops specializing in nature and gardening, with over 4,000 references.
- The Domaine du Rayol's ecological nursery: "sustainable and desirable", its aim is to produce without depleting resources, in accordance with a charter.

Tourisme durable

Owned by the Conservatoire du Littoral, this protected natural area lies at the foot of the Maures massif, opposite the islands of the Port-Cros National Park. Renowned landscape gardener Gilles Clément has designed a garden featuring a mosaic of landscapes evoking the flora of the world's Mediterranean climates. It's a real invitation to travel, where all the senses are stimulated.
Since its creation in 1989, the garden has been managed ecologically. A place of education, it can be explored freely with the help of a map, an audioguide or guided tours. Children can take part in fun activities that introduce them to ecological gardening and raise their awareness of environmental preservation, both on land and in the sea.
Every season, Le Jardin des Méditerranées reveals its beauty and special features; in winter, it takes on a singular appeal with the blossoming of some forty different species of mimosa and other plants native to the southern hemisphere. The Domaine du Rayol is also recognized as an LPO Refuge and benefits from the "Esprit Parc National - Port-Cros" label.
