Journée internationale des Archives - Initiation à la paléographie

As part of International Archives Day, on Friday June 7, 2024, the Saint-Tropez Archives department is offering an introductory workshop on paleography (deciphering ancient writing).

Friday 7 June 2024 between 9.30 am and 12 pm.

This workshop will provide the keys to deciphering ancient scripts. To do this, we'll study a text from the town's archives, written in 1665: the Saint-Tropez community regulations. These regulations set out the procedures for electing and holding town councils at the time.

We'll be reading it in the very room where the document was drawn up by 16th-century Tropezians.
