Exposition de Victoria HARMER-LEHEMBRE et Nico BISO

Saint-Tropez Cultural Exhibition

Exhibition by Victoria Lehembre and Nico Biso in Saint-Tropez

ART

The abstract and contemporary works of the artist Nico Biso, are part of the current that is usually called ¨L'informel¨- that is to say towards an extremely amorphous and unstructured abstraction, a painting mainly based on the sign element. A sign that is identified with speed of execution and kinetic impulse; characteristics of George Mathieu and Jackson Pollock that are the basis of Nico's artistic thinking. The artist asks the viewer for a moment of analysis and reflection to see the representation of the object through the division of his paintings. He uses the pressed colour of the tube in such a way that he can paint and draw at the same time, fixing his impromptu traces directly and quickly. The pictorial product takes on its identity as the chromatic choice fills the canvas.

Victoria Lehembre studied fine arts and specialised in photography. For the past 20 years she has been working in Saint-Tropez, with her family on the Brigantin boats, but she continues to paint every winter. Her paintings are representations of the thousands of photographs she has taken during regatta follow-ups. Through her realistic and rather classical paintings, Victoria invites us to witness the essence of the Voiles de Saint-Tropez. Her works show the purity, power, beauty and elegance of classic and modern sailing ships. The Tropezian architecture and the Mediterranean Sea are a harmony of colour. A tribute to the beauty of the town of Saint-Tropez and the magnificent sailing ships that sail in its gulf.
The paintings encourage the viewer to reflect and form his or her own idea of the art presented to us by these artists.
