Enki Bilal - Déchronos - Memory of the Future

Saint-Tropez Cultural Exhibition

"I remember, it was tomorrow", Enki Bilal
Far from being a retrospective, in this exhibition Enki Bilal evokes his vision of a world where time and humanity combine to produce the alchemy of life on a planet (and on a planet).

From 28/06 to 05/08/2024, daily between 10 am and 8 pm.

From calm to chaos, tension to clarity, the future is the artist's mirror of our mistakes and errors, our flashes and triumphs. The sensuality of the body forms the link.

This event explores Enki Bilal's futuristic visions and reflections on humanity and time. It's a program for fans of the Nikopol saga, but also for the general public. Born in Belgrade in 1951 and living in France since the age of 10, Enki Bilal is renowned for his major contributions to comics and illustration.

His visual narratives, often rooted in science fiction, explore time and memory. Enki Bilal first came to prominence in the 1970s with his contributions to Pilote magazine. In 1980, he launched the Nikopol trilogy, and 7 years later won first prize at the Salon International de la Bande Dessinée in Angoulême. Other landmark works follow, such as La Tétralogie du Monstre in 1998 and the Bug series.

In 2021, he published a book-interview entitled L'Homme est un accident (Belin), in collaboration with Adrien Rivierre. The artist invites us to take a critical, informed look at artificial intelligence, ecology and contemporary anxieties. In addition to comics, Bilal has also worked in film, theater and opera. Prolific filmmaker, screenwriter, video artist and author Enki Bilal will be present in Saint-Tropez to inaugurate the event.
