Wool Fair in Grimaud

Existing for several centuries, the Fair of Wool is a traditional festival taking place on Thursday of the ascent. Grimaud's most traditional festival, which has been held for centuries, is back at last, as it is every year, on Ascension Thursday!

On the programme for this bucolic day is a 100% artisanal farmers' market on the theme of wool and textiles (new for 2024), all around the Place Neuve: colours, materials and originality will be on offer at the stands of our 20 exhibitors, to the delight of all!

At the same time, a large transhumance with over 60 animals will pass through the village (new for 2024)! Departing from the château car park, the goats and sheep will parade past the Town Hall and through the Rue des Templiers to the Place Neuve... An early morning rendezvous not to be missed!

And to welcome our sheep and all their friends, a giant 1500m² farm will be set up in the village, with over 100 animals roaming freely among our visitors: goats, ponies, donkeys (and a colt!), llamas, buffaloes, pigs, hens, guinea fowl, ducks, geese, rabbits, ferrets... farm animals will no longer hold any secrets!

Sheep-shearing and wool-sorting demonstrations will take place throughout the day...

On site, among the animals, the team from the Town Hall's Culture & Heritage Department will be presenting their exhibition on the history of the Foire de la Laine in our village: why this festival, since when, who took part...?

To help you discover this famous wool, the star of the day, there will be continuous workshops throughout the day, for young and old alike: an introduction to weaving and working with felt, creating woollen garlands, discovering carding, etc. by the Ferme du Lambert and the Fibre Textile association.
Visitors will be able to take home their own hand-made souvenir!

And for the little ones, how about a pony ride around Grimaud?
Or a challenge with Mum and Dad on giant wooden games? Or better still, discover our treasure hunt through the village...

As every year, the Provençal folk group l'Escandihado will be providing the entertainment, with several parades and a dance show under the village bandstand, all in keeping with tradition!
While we're on the subject of Provence, this year we'll be offering Provençal language discovery workshops in small groups under the village bandstand, with the association "Je Parle Provençal" (new for 2024).

And if you get peckish during the day, there's a gourmet corner at the top of the Place Neuve, with a choice of takeaway dishes!

And speaking of appetites, there'll be an aperitif for everyone at 12.30pm!
