Saint-Tropez
The doorway to the so called "Maison du Maure," which dates from the late 16th century, is listed on the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments. The door surround is carved from green serpentine sourced from La Chartreuse de la Verne monastery region in Collobrières. The door itself, which is semi-circular, features a carved keystone of a turbaned Barbary pirate. It is flanked by 2 pillars resting on lion head pedestals, supporting an entablature also adorned with lion heads. The structure is surmounted by a triangular pediment enclosing an urn.
