Château Barbeyrolles produces whites, rosés and reds in organic farming. Régine Sumeire runs this estate, the third generation of a family of passionate winegrowers who acquired Barbeyrolles in 1977.
A paying cellar visit is possible. The domain includes twelve hectares of vines, in a particularly well preserved place, at the foot of the village of Gassin. It is located on the route de la Berle, in a valley exceptionally located a few kilometers from the Mediterranean.
The estate also offers accommodation with 10 bedrooms, a rose garden housing Château Barbeyrolle, a variety created by the Lapierre rose gardens and presented at the estate in 2017.
Small historical note
The district temporarily sheltered a small maquis at the end of the Second World War, benefiting from the protection of the owner of the castle, an Englishman named Donatien Moulton who organizes in the domain a "marshalling yard" for the refractory. A police operation leads the leaders to flee and ends the experiment.
A commemorative plaque on the road to La Berle recalls this episode.
