The Cologne Chamber Philharmonic’s concert schedule is already fully booked for the current season. Nearly 150 concerts are planned across Germany and in over 200 cities abroad, taking classical music to the wider world. The Cologne Chamber Philharmonic was founded in 2003 in Cologne, a city internationally renowned for its conservatory and music educators. The orchestra consistently recruits talent from the masterclasses of professors such as Viktor Tretiakov, Maria Kliegel, Robert Winn, Frans Helmerson, Zakhar Bron, and Ralph Manno. More than 100 musicians now perform in the Philharmonic’s various ensembles. Following a rigorous selection process, a range of groups are formed—from chamber orchestras to full symphony orchestras. After intensive rehearsals, the tours begin, and the musical journey gets underway. Since November 2009, the Cologne Chamber Philharmonic has collaborated with Mercedes-Benz. Together, we launched a new concert series at the magnificent Mercedes Center, transformed for the occasion into a venue dedicated to classical music. The inaugural concerts took place in the spring of 2010. At the same time, our world tour will take us to Australia, Spain, Great Britain, and across Germany. During the planning stages, we pay special attention to the selection of musical works and soloists. Thanks to the exceptional caliber of the orchestra's musicians, the Chamber Philharmonic offers every member the opportunity to perform as a soloist. The Chamber Philharmonic’s guiding principle is to curate its repertoire using only the finest musical works. The unique appeal of our program lies in the combination of popular works with lesser-known pieces from various musical eras. Great masters such as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Vivaldi thus engage in a dialogue with works ranging from Sergei Prokofiev to the "King of Tango," Astor Piazzolla. This blend promises diversity of the highest caliber.
